That time of year
Ok, it's September. This photo was taken last year while waiting for the bus.
I am feeling nostalgic, as my son has moved onto high school, and my daughter will wait for the bus with her best friend. No more quarreling over who gets what seat on Stump Henge (see previous post).
No more vivid descriptions (with voice) of the bus driver du jour.
I think this is the year that my kids will grow apart (not having a day to day shared experience), and I am sorry for that. On the other hand, I won't miss the bickering.
And, who knows, this may make them talk to each other on a different level.(one can only hope!)
I will also miss the opportunity to get photos like this. Can't make this stuff up!

for some reason, i think that the "different level" will also include bickering!!! hope it all goes well. b.
Back in the day, when Maureen went to high school and I was still in middle school, we hated each other.
Well, no, but, you know...the way siblings bug each other all the time. It was like, wow, now we're in very different situations. We hardly ever see each other, so let's get all the bickering and name calling in that we can.
And then...I got to high school, and things changed. We got along better, tentatively at first. By the end of the school year, we were almost like best friends, running with the same crowd and everything. And then she went off to college, but even then we never went back to the "She's Looking At My Drink!" phase. We did have a couple "I have an allergy to cards!" moments during her sophomore year, and we did argue about who got to use the car when she was in town, but that, too, faded when she returned from Norway, and had her own car, which she had very sensibly let me use during her absence. So this may be the impetus needed to make them appreciate each other.
Or, she might just look at his drink again.
Love the photo. September always reminds me of change and leaves me a little nostalgic (have you read a few of my recent posts?) My sisters had to place the intervention call and tell me I was sharing too much. Good luck with the new year. The school sounds wonderful.
hey, aedan, WATCH OUT!!! LOOK BEHIND YOU!!! there's a headless figure lurking in your path!!!
